Amidst all the gloom, one main advantage of lockdown over the last few months is that I’ve done more walking and more close observation of things around me than usual. Being more present to see the changing plants and trees has definitely had an influence on the work I am producing. How have things been for you?

In the absence of workshops I have also managed to get my Etsy shop going with more regular listings and a bit more attention.

Why not pop over and see what I’ve been up to?

One of the things I love about working with silver clay and metal clay in general is the ability to add a beautiful splash of colour. Today I am working on some samples and trying a variety of different colour effects on some botanical designs. The samples are based on drawings I have made which are then transferred to clay. The clay is then fired before the colour is added. The selection of colouring techniques that I will be experimenting with include coloured pencil, alcohol inks, UV resin and metal patinals. To learn all about this and make your own join me in the wonderful setting of Gold Hill Museum Garden Room in Shaftesbury for two days of botanically inspired silver clay jewellery. This course will take place on Saturday and Sunday 8th and 9th of September from 10.00 until 4.30 and is available to book for either 1 or 2 days.
